Movement, Mindfulness, and Pain Science (MMAPS) Phase 1
All MMAPS classes are taught by a team of rehabilitation professionals (PT/OT) with a strong patient-centered approach. The series begins with an individualized PT evaluation. Patients are assisted in preparing a personal roadmap to meet their goals. They identify what knowledge and skills they need to achieve those goals, and identify what roadblocks they may encounter. A physician’s referral is required to participate in MMAPS classes.
Each class has a fine balance of Pain Education (including the sensory, emotional, and social experience of pain), mindfulness practices, dynamic gross movements (Tai Chi and yoga), with a focus on personalized function and individual quality of life.
Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at Lebanon Hospital conference rooms.
Classes are in 2 phases of 4 weeks each. Patients have the option to stop class after Phase 1, or continue on to Phase 2. Patients can also take a break before continuing on to Phase 2. Please note that Phase 1 is a prerequisite for participating in Phase 2.
Patient's insurance is initially billed for an Individual PT/OT evaluation, and then consequent visits are billed as Group PT/OT.
Send the patient’s diagnosis and orders for "PT Evaluate and treat for Persistent Pain Class" to Lebanon Hospital Rehab. Please try and refer patients at least 2 weeks before the class starts.
